Avery Hilditch - Secretary
Avery is an Anglo-Australian born in Egypt. He was raised in the UK where he was educated at Grove Park Grammar School in Wrexham. After leaving school, he spent 12 years in the Royal Air Force and the next 8 years teaching adults working in defence. During his time in the RAF, he earned a Bachelor degree in Earth Science and a Master degree in English.
In 1989, he and his family emigrated to South Australia where he has lived ever since. As he did in the UK, he worked for a large, international aerospace company working on Defence projects until he retired in 2017.
He became involved in child protection in 2016 after learning of the murder of 4-month-old Ebony Napier-Tucker. He is passionate about helping children in any way he can.
My name is Trish I believe deeply in creating safe, supportive spaces for people especially during times when life feels overwhelming or systems feel too big to navigate alone. My work has always centred around compassion, clarity, and community, and I try to bring a calm, steady presence into everything I do.
My involvement with the Foundation grew from both my values and my lived experience. I’ve had to navigate complex systems myself, including challenging interactions with child protection, and those experiences shaped the way I show up for others. They taught me how important it is for people to feel heard, respected, and supported, not dismissed or left to struggle on their own. Instead of letting those moments harden me, they strengthened my commitment to fairness, accountability, and genuine care.
Through the Foundation, I’m able to turn that understanding into meaningful action, helping create safer pathways for individuals and families and offering the kind of steady guidance I once needed myself. I believe helping people feel a little more secure in a world that can sometimes feel unpredictable.
At my core, I’m driven by the hope that kindness, integrity, and community can make a real difference. And I’m committed to being part of the work that makes that difference possible.
